Lone Star State Incident Management Team
Notes from MAC Group Meeting Monday September 5, 2005
- US Forest Service is working on an aerial photo flight mission for MS and LA national forest and private land.
- Lower than normal rain fall is predicted for September from Oklahoma and Texas to Virginia.
- Fire activity is increasing in OK, AR and TX. US Fish and Wildlife Service has a 3,500 acre marsh fire in southwest Louisiana. The US Forest Service will be looking at placing a severity request for this area in the near future. I mentioned that NC's CL 215 is available. Texas has placed an order for 4 JD550 or JD650 tractor/plows through the federal system. If you are interested in filling this order through the federal system show them as being available in ROSS.
- 300 structural fire fighters from New York have been ordered through EMAC for New Orleans. Structural resources from other cities are also in New Orleans.
- There may be a request to extend resource committed to the hurricane through the federal for up to 30 days. Each state with resources committed may need to make a decision on this.
- FEMA has purchased 75,000 travel trailer for temporary residence. There will probably be order for Logistic Management Teams (Type III ) teams to manage staging areas for them.
- SACC is going from a Planning Level 3 to 4.
- MAFFS (Modular Aerial Fire Fighting Systems) are may being ordered through the Department of Defense for structural fire fighting in New Orleans. This is not a Forest Service Order.
- Hand crews listed as available for hurricane use from NC, VA and TN in the attached are being used to fill saw crew orders for National Forest in MS.
- Alan Dozier will fill in at SACC so that I can be off a few days.
